Sylvester Stallone is a famous actor that has had a long career which started in 1970s and continues to this day. He is an actor, screenwriter and film director. The two most notable characters that he has played on the screen have been Rocky Balboa and John Rambo. Stallone was nominated for two Academy Awards for the original Rocky movie in the categories of best actor and best original screenplay. His earliest prominent film roles include The Lords of Flatbush, Death Race 2000, Farewell My Lovely and other famous movie titles. Rocky however was his breakout role. It was released in 1976 and was inspired by a real life fight involving the boxers Chuck Wepner and Muhamad Ali.
The movie takes place in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The protagonist is a hard luck fighter who has not fully capitalized on his natural skill sets. He has instead chosen to be a strong man for a local crime boss. During the course of the movie, an opportunity arises when the world champion selects Rocky as his next opponent. That is where the story takes off and Rocky begins his training with the help of a legendary boxing trainer who had a similar story himself. Rocky makes a surprising and unexpected stand against the champion and the rest is movie history. As a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Brad Lomas is a major fan of this film and the handful of films that have come after it in the series.
